Apple iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro: Everything you need to know about Apples latest flagship.

Finally, Apple has unveiled the iPhone 14, the most recent generation of its smartphone. As anticipated, there are four models available for selection (although they are not the same four models as in previous years). There is no longer an iPhone mini, but there is an iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone Pro Max instead.

The announcement this evening revealed that the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are, arguably, only a very slight increase over the iPhone 13 in terms of battery life and camera quality. The situation gets more intriguing after Apple unveiled the iPhone 14 Pro.

There are four color options for the new iPhone Pro: black, silver, gold, and a new deep purple. It has a stunning appearance at first glance, with a stainless steel frame and Ceramic Shield display. You do indeed see it correctly; the notch has vanished. Instead, it features a brand-new cutout in the form of a pill dubbed “Dynamic Island” (inspiring, huh?). Continue reading to learn all about the iPhone 14’s technical specifications and design.

iPhone 14: Design

The iPhone 14 comes in four different variants, or you might think of it as two models with two sizes each. There is no longer an iPhone mini. You now have “big or bigger,” as Apple puts it. The entry-level iPhone still has a 6.1-inch screen, and the family now includes the iPhone 14 Plus. It is essentially the iPhone 14 but larger, measuring 6.7 in.

With the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, not much has changed in terms of design. They resemble the iPhone 13 in terms of overall appearance, have a diagonally arranged back camera module, and a slim notch. Each one is available in the following five hues: Midnight, Starlight, Blue, Purple, and PRODUCT (RED).

Then there are the Pros: the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch-respective iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. In a way, this streamlines the product line by offering us a pair of entry-level and a pair of high-end phones that are both offered in the same two sizes. The Pros are available in a new deep purple, silver, gold, and black.

The iPhone 14 Pro had an always-on display, which is the other significant change with the screen. Although the bezels have been reduced in size, the rest of the design, which has flat, stainless steel edges, is basically the same as that of the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

iPhone 14: display

The Super Retina XDR OLED display on Apple’s iPhone 14 and bigger iPhone 14 Plus both have a peak HDR brightness of 1200 nits. For increased durability, the front glass has Ceramic Shield.

In comparison to the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, the brightness of the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max can reach 1,600 nits indoors and a maximum of 2,000 nits outdoors. They have an always-on display that may show notifications and other information even while the phone is locked, as we’ve already stated. When the always-on display is activated, a new LTPO panel allows the refresh rate to drop down from 120Hz to 1Hz in order to conserve battery life.

iPhone 14: Tech specs

iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus

The A15 Bionic CPU found in the iPhone 13 Pro powers the iPhone 14, which Apple claims performs 18% faster than the iPhone 13. In order to push the iPhone 14 for longer, Apple claims to have increased the thermal performance. This should help people who wish to use the phone for gaming.

Other than that, the camera (see below) and battery life represent the biggest advancements. Apple claims that the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus can play videos for up to 20 hours and 26 hours, respectively. That would be an iPhone’s best-ever battery life (claimed battery life for the iPhone 13 was 19 hours).

The widely rumored satellite connectivity is among the other new features. Without a mobile signal, you can call for emergency assistance with Emergency SOS with Satellite, which could be a lifesaver for folks living in extremely remote places. With the phone, you receive two years of service for free.

Additionally, Crash Detection has been added, which is intended to recognize when it believes you have been involved in an automobile accident and will automatically contact emergency services if you are unable to do so. It should be noted that the iPhone 14 only supports eSIM and lacks a SIM card tray.

iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max

The Pro and Pro Max will include a new A16 Bionic chip with a 6-core CPU that was created using a 4-nanometer manufacturing technique. It has a display engine for that Dynamic Island and a 5-core GPU with 50% greater bandwidth. According to Apple, the Neural Engine can handle 17 trillion processes related to computational photography every second.

iPhone 14: Camera

iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus

With a new 12MP main camera and a larger sensor than its forerunner, the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus are said to boast a 49% improvement in low light performance. The front camera is also 12MP, and for the first time it has autofocus in addition to a faster lens for improved low-light performance.

With a 2x enhancement on the front camera and the ultra wide and a 2.5x improvement on the primary camera, new Photonic Engine technology improves low-light performance even more. Another improvement to video is the addition of an improved stabilization option dubbed Action mode, which can be activated to improve the quality of moving video.

iPhone Pro and iPhone Pro Max

As anticipated, the Pros also receive a significant camera improvement. Improved low-light photography benefits all three cameras (main, telephoto, and ultrawide), and a new 9-LED flash also helps here. Thanks to the new Photonic Engine, the new 48MP main camera delivers greater detail and two times better low-light performance.

Video may now be taken at 4K up to 40 frames per second in Cinematic mode and ProRAW can also be used uncompressed at 48 megapixels, providing more editing freedom. (There is also a new Action mode that comes with the normal iPhone 14).

iPhone 14: pricing and release date

Pre-orders for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are being accepted at Apple.com as of right now.

The base price of the iPhone 14 is $799 (£849), while the iPhone 14 Plus is $899 (£949). The starting costs for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will remain at $999 / £1,099 and $1,099 / £1,199, respectively, from last year.
